To make this choropleth map of Humboldt State University alumni distribution per population I:
-Joined attributes from a table to a U.S. states layer
-Then created the choropleth on the symbology properties
-Classifying the data after that by normalizing the data by raw population to show a ratio of alum per 100,000
-Custom colors were then chosen to be aesthetically pleasing and represent our school's colors
-Custom outlines were then added so that contrast and visual hierarchy were fully utilized
-An appropriate layer frame was added to the layout
-Separate layers were then created, so that Alaska and Hawaii could be isolated and displayed separately
-The map was then exported to Adobe Illustrator
-There specific states of varying alum density were isolated so that their raw population could be displayed
This map can be utilized to show the spatial distribution of HSU alumni across the United States.
